Tess Trivell

Tess has always enjoyed physically active, challenging, and cardiovascular workouts, both indoors and outdoors: gym classes such as Boot Camp, Spinning, CoreEnergy and Dance; mountain biking, skiing, hiking, tennis, etc.

It was a right knee injury that initially led Tess to her first yoga class. Little did she know how much of an impact Yoga would soon have on her life. Through the Power Vinyasa flow classes she eventually attended, she was able to work up a sweat and not only maintain the cardiovascular and strength elements which she had missed, but to develop focus, balance, flexibility, and vitality. Beyond the incredible physical benefits, however, it truly was the way yoga had affected her mentally, emotionally, and spiritually that kept enticing her back to the mat.

Tess became passionate about yoga after attending a retreat in Ojai, CA led by Travis Eliot. After being guided through the 8 limbs of yoga, a spark was ignited within her. She had an experience unlike any before: a profound sense of “coming home”, incredible peace, bliss, and contentment. She intended to deepen her practice, and very soon became a Certified Yoga Teacher after completing the 200 Hour TruYoga 360 Teacher Training led by Rudy Mettia and Travis. What she had finally discovered was self-love, acceptance, the powerful Truth within, and sense/knowing that she is “one” with the universe. She embraced a whole new perspective and purpose in life.

Tess was naturally excited to join Travis and others on the Bulgaria trip, and to be involved in the amazing 108 Day Ultimate Yogi project. She believes this program to be extremely empowering—touching and treating all aspects of one’s being. Her own life has been turned “right side up,” and she is sincerely grateful for the constant change and growth happening within her.

A busy mom of two very active boys, PTA executive board member, community volunteer, wife, and business owner, she understands the importance of taking the time for self-care so that she is energized to be more and give more to others. Yoga, pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation has become a top priority in her hectic schedule. “When I get on my mat and focus on my breath, I immediately slow down, relax, quiet my mind, and let go…to later emerge with increased awareness, clarity, love, gratitude, happiness, and exuberance. Yoga rejuvenates and inspires me daily to Be my best, most true self in this world.”

With her professional background having worked as a Registered Nurse in hospital critical care departments, she is a compassionate, caring person committed to the optimum health and well-being of others. Her desire is to continue making a positive difference in the lives of others. It is her hope that many others can also come to experience the extraordinary therapeutic and transformational effects of Yoga.

Tess wishes to share this journey with you. (She teaches private sessions and small group classes in Palos Verdes, CA.)
* Testimonial from a student

“Tess, I’ve been meaning to tell you how grateful I am for you having introduced and taught yoga to me…it’s been life altering…it has not only helped me with the obvious physical appearance, esp. my “trouble spots” that I’ve always had problems with (I can now see improvement and can’t wait!”) but it has been helpful with my inner peace. It’s also helped a great deal with my asthma! I can never thank you enough for what you’ve done…”
