The raw food detox
People who eat raw are always raving about the benifits. More energy, healthy looking skin, and rapid weight loss. It just takes more energy to digest raw food than cooked food so just through that fact alone you are guaranteed to be shedding away unwanted pounds. The raw food detox does not mean eating salad twenty four seven. Here are a couple of recipes to help you reap the rewards of an entirely raw food detox diet. Raw food is filled with natural enzymes and nutrients. These help the body achieve optimal health. It is said that the cooking process destroys a lot of the goodness found in food.
The raw food detox plan
For three days experiment with some the recipes that are listed below or come up with your own and send them to us. We will feature our favorites. Eating raw is a great way to shed unwanted pounds and also helps clean out your digestive tracts. Try and consume 75%-85% plant based foods and never heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Eat a lot of fresh fruits, vegetables, sprouts, seeds, and nuts. Most people choose to stay vegan on this one but you may experiment with some cheeses made with raw milk. If you have the foresight you can sprout some adzuki beans or other legumes by placing them in a bowl of water for two days. These can be eaten as is or used in other recipes as a great way to fill your protein needs during these three days. Make sure to drink plenty of water during the raw food detox to aid your bodies natural detoxification.
Why a raw food detox?
Some time in the early fifties the food conglomerates convinced us that we needed to cook our food and eat more protein. Beef was the protein of choice at the time and the companies spent millions of dollars trying to educate us as to the health benefits of steak. This coupled with government subsidization and corporate lobbying created a multi billion dollar cattle industry. In the late eighties the results of the China Study began to filter in and we started noticing an alarming increase of the so called “wester diseases” of cancer diabetes and heart disease. These were linked directly to our diets. ”The study examined mortality rates from 48 forms of cancer and other chronic diseases from 1973 to 75 in 65 counties in China, and correlated them with 1983–84 dietary surveys and bloodwork from 6,500 people, 100 from each county. It concluded that counties with a high consumption of animal-based foods in 1983–84 were more likely to have had higher death rates from “Western” diseases as of 1973–75, while the opposite was true for counties that ate more plant foods in 1983–84. The study was conducted in those counties because they had genetically similar populations that tended, over generations, to live in the same way in the same place, and eat diets specific to those regions.”
Despite what we have been led to believe we do not need meat to survive. In fact one of our good friends has raised her five children on a completely raw food program.
